He noted their impact is extensive, citing the 500 individuals they served in just the past week.

Schuyler Ave., while long lines also looped around the entire downtown city blocks on the evening of Monday, March 29. Still I Rise, a nonprofit organization, utilized the Northern Illinois Food Truck to help families in need by distributing nourishing food to hundreds of attendees at its Drive-Thru Food Giveaway II. Items that were distributed included boxes of fresh produce, a variety of frozen meats, fruit, dairy, non-perishable food products and full boxes of Johnsonville frozen meat, along with beverages from Pepsi Co.
The seventh annual Healthy for the Holidays Food Giveaway was the result of a partnership between local nonprofit Still I Rise and BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois. About 400 cars passed through the event that was held in the parking lot near the Kankakee Farmer’s Market grounds, 250 S. Schuyler Ave.

Provides Meals and Gifts to nearly 100 People in the Community Still I Rise, a nonprofit
organization, presented their 1st Annual Healthy for the Holidays event geared
towards educating the public concerning health awareness. The event took place
Saturday, December 13th at the Kankakee Public Library (Kankakee, IL). The
organization partnered with Walgreens and their local hospital facility,
Riverside Medical Center who also provided items including blood pressure
monitoring equipment, glucometers, test strips, lancets, scales, alcohol pads,
biohazard bags, gloves, sharps containers, and more.
In the case of Kankakee's youthful grassroots movement "Still I
Rise," you shift your focus slightly from restoring peace in drug and
crime-infested neighborhoods, and you tackle a quality of life challenge with a
free community health fair.
